Edmund Song
Edmund Song, a Singaporean composer based in the U.S., is acclaimed for blending Eastern traditions with Western styles. His music spans classical, film, and musical theatre, with collaborations including Akropolis Reed Quintet and PRISM Quartet. He is Composer for One Song Orchestra and Resident Composer of Bass Around Asia, while remaining active in film scoring and performance.

Edmund Song is a US-based Singaporean composer acclaimed for blending Eastern traditional music with Western influences, described by The Straits Times (2023) as incorporating “idioms of Hollywood film music and Broadway musicals.” His multicultural approach has led to collaborations with renowned ensembles such as Akropolis Reed Quintet (USA), Hub New Music (USA), Del Sol String Quartet (USA), PRISM Saxophone Quartet (USA), and Standing Wave Ensemble (Canada).
Recognised for his work in film scoring, Edmund gained prominence when the Civic Orchestra of Chicago featured his score The Smart Dog. He has since been involved in numerous film projects as a composer and sound designer, earning a nomination for Best Original Music for Silver River (Singapore, 2023) and selections as a featured composer at the Independent Silent Film Festival (USA, 2024) and Film Score Fest (USA, 2025).
Currently, Edmund serves as the composer-arranger for One Song Orchestra (Taiwan), Composer-in-Residence for Bass Around Asia (Taiwan-Singapore), and a guest composer-arranger for Ding Yi Music Company (Singapore). He was previously the Composer-in-Residence for the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra (Singapore) and taught at the Jacobs Composition Academy at Indiana University. His recent projects include commissions and score selections for Art Music Society, Boston New Music Initiative (BNMI) 2025, ASMAC/Helix Collective Cue Connection 2025, New Music at the Bayou 2025, LSU BassFest 2025, RED NOTE New Music Festival 2025, and Talis Music Festival 2024. Additionally, he works as a Studio Assistant at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Recording Studio.
As a orchestral and chamber double bassist, Edmund has performed with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra, and Hangzhou Philharmonic and has performed with productions of The Phantom of the Opera (2019) and Les Misérables (2016). He is also experienced in historical performance, appearing with Red Dot Baroque (Singapore) and the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project (USA).
